What Is Usability Interface Design?
Usability Interface Design, ake User Experience (UX) refers to the process of designing the experience the user takes on a website (or in the physical world) to make it more efficient / productive / easier to use. UX often goes by many names within the industry. You may hear the same concept referred to many ways:
- Usability Analysis
- User Interface Analysis
- Usability Design
- Usability Interaction
- User Interaction Design
- Wireframes (part of the process)
- Storyboarding (part of the process sometimes)
- Prototyping (part of the process sometimes)
- and probably many others
Basically, the concept works like this. Lucid Agency will sit down with you and determine what type of experience your web property (usually your website, application or landing page) is intended to accomplish. We will then research what has been done in your space that is working and what isn’t. From there we’ll architect a plan to create a simple and effective “usable” experience. The goal may be to increase your conversion rate, to achieve more downloads, to persuade the customer, to generate video views or whitepaper downloads, etc. There are limitless possible objectives for your web property, but our objective is to get your website/application/landing page to accomplish your objectives.
Myth: There is 1 correct, or perfect process. We’re not shooting to make the perfect process. The perfect user experience is one that engages the consumer and convinces the consumer to take the action you want them to take (hopefully you have a good product, service or information source that they already want to engage with). There will always be changes that can be done, and we are big fans of testing the process and refining it continually. As the landscape changes, and as your customer (and often your business) change, you will need to adjust the process to work within the confines of the current environment. But don’t worry, that’s part of the excitement and what leads to the phenomenal success that our clients often experience from the UX process.
